Tyrese Haliburton believes the Indiana Pacers need to address the problems they experienced last season as they prepare to compete again with their star point guard back in the lineup.
Indiana went 19-63 while Haliburton recovered from the Achilles injury he suffered in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals.
His rehabilitation also included a battle with shingles.
Despite the Pacers’ success two seasons ago, Haliburton does not believe simply looking back at their run to the Finals will be enough to prepare them for the upcoming campaign.
“We can watch as much film as we want from two years ago and the way our offense and defense looked, but we can’t pretend like last year didn’t happen,” said the player, who also battled shingles during his recovery.
“We’ve got to correct those things to go into this year.”
The situation around Indiana has also changed.
The Eastern Conference now includes a defending champion New York Knicks team, while Philadelphia added LeBron James and Jaylen Brown and Miami acquired Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The Pacers also enter the season without the first-round pick they traded to the LA Clippers in the deal for center Ivica Zubac.
