Hapoel Tel Aviv has officially announced the signing of veteran Czech guard Tomas Satoransky to a one-year contract through the end of the 2026-27 season.

The 34-year-old arrives after four seasons with Barcelona, where he averaged 7.0 points, 4.3 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 0.7 steals per game in the EuroLeague last season while shooting 49.4 percent from two-point range and 48.9 percent from beyond the arc.

In Spain’s ACB League, he posted 6.3 points, 3.9 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game.

Satoransky began his professional career with USK Prague before moving to Sevilla and later Barcelona. He spent six seasons in the NBA with the Washington Wizards, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, and San Antonio Spurs before returning to Barcelona in 2022.

Internationally, Satoransky helped lead the Czech national team to a sixth-place finish at the FIBA World Cup, seventh place at EuroBasket, and an appearance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

“I’m very excited to join Hapoel,” Satoransky said. “I can’t wait to meet everyone and take on this challenge. See you soon, Yalla Hapoel.”

Sporting director George Hinas welcomed the signing.

“Thomas is exactly the type of player you want to add to teams that aspire to win. His experience in the NBA and at the highest levels of European basketball will be invaluable for us. He is capable of contributing in many areas on the court, and his personality will raise our level of competitiveness in every competition.”

Head coach Dimitris Itoudis also expressed his excitement.

“I wanted to work with Thomas before. We talked in the past, but it didn’t happen, and now I’m very happy that it finally will. I welcome him to Hapoel. I believe he will bring his experience, his tremendous defensive ability, his playmaking, and his team-first mentality. In our conversations, he showed great motivation to help Hapoel reach new heights, and I’m delighted to have him join our family.”
