The Dallas Mavericks continue to explore a variety of draft-day scenarios as they evaluate ways to maximize the value of their selections.
According to Jake Fischer, one prospect who has already drawn interest from Dallas is Washington center Hannes Steinbach, who recently worked out for the organization.
Steinbach could become a realistic target if the Mavericks ultimately find a trade partner and move down from their current draft position.
At the same time, Fischer reports that Dallas is not solely focused on moving back, as the front office is also looking into opportunities to move up from the 30th overall pick and secure a higher selection later in the first round.
Elsewhere around the league, the Atlanta Hawks are preparing for multiple draft possibilities. Fischer notes that Dailyn Swain would be an attractive option for Atlanta at No. 23 if he were still available.
However, league expectations suggest that the Texas wing is likely to hear his name called before the Hawks make that selection.
Atlanta’s second first-round pick is also attracting attention from rival teams.
In addition to owning the eighth overall selection, the Hawks control the 23rd pick and have reportedly indicated a willingness to discuss moving it.
Rather than targeting an immediate return, Atlanta is believed to be open to exchanging the pick for future draft assets, which could create another active trade market as the draft approaches.
