Kenny Atkinson dismisses idea of benching James Harden

Kenny Atkinson said he never considered taking point guard James Harden off the floor for defensive possessions late in Game 1.

The Cleveland Cavaliers head coach praised Harden’s defensive impact throughout the postseason and expressed full confidence in the veteran guard.

“No,” Atkinson said when asked if he thought about benching Harden defensively late in the game.

“He’s been one of our best defenders in these playoffs,” Atkinson added. “I trust him. Smart. Great hands. Didn’t think about that.”
