Although Jaylen Brown will become eligible for a contract extension on July 26, the Boston Celtics are not expected to prioritize negotiating a new deal this offseason.

According to Brian Robb of MassLive, Boston is unlikely to feel pressure to immediately work out an extension because Brown still has three years remaining on his current super-max contract.

As a result, Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens is expected to focus on other roster needs during the summer.

One of Boston’s reported goals is adding more athleticism and another reliable ball-handler to the roster.

Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe noted that the Celtics could potentially address those needs with the No. 27 overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.

Among the prospects linked to Boston are Ebuka Okorie from Stanford, Isaiah Evans from Duke, and Dailyn Swain from Texas.
