Stephen A. Smith strongly criticized the Washington Wizards after the franchise secured the No. 1 overall pick, saying he feels bad for projected top prospect AJ Dybantsa potentially ending up in Washington.

Smith questioned the direction of the organization and pointed to the team’s struggles over the last several seasons as the reason for his reaction.

“I felt sorry for him … The Washington Wizards have lost at least 64 games over the last three years. They are a basketball abomination.”

Smith continued by saying the Wizards have largely avoided national criticism only because attention has been focused elsewhere in Washington.

“The only reason we don’t take time to insult them more is because of the stench emanating out of the nation’s capital for stuff other than basketball. That’s the only reason.”

He finished by doubling down on his opinion of the franchise’s current state.

“If it was not for that, we’d be focused on them. They are horrible.”
