Chicago Bulls are still in the process of identifying a new lead executive for their basketball operations department, and Matt Lloyd from the Minnesota Timberwolves is widely viewed as the most likely choice, per Julia Poe of The Chicago Tribune.

According to Poe, Lloyd has consistently been a “top target” throughout the search.

She highlights that he “cares deeply about the process of evaluating, acquiring and developing talent,” which could be especially valuable for a Bulls team that may be shifting toward a longer-term rebuild.

Lloyd also brings strong ties to the franchise. A native of the Chicago suburbs, he began working with the Bulls in 1994 in a video and special projects role before moving into media relations.

He eventually transitioned into the front office, rising to director of college scouting before leaving in 2012 to join the Orlando Magic.

While the Reinsdorf family have suggested they will consider a broader pool of candidates this time, Poe notes that their past decisions often lean toward familiar faces and internal connections.
