LeBron James delivered a commanding all-around performance with 28 points and 12 assists as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Phoenix Suns 101-73 on Friday night at Crypto.com Arena.

The win secures home-court advantage in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs for Los Angeles, which improved its late-season push despite a depleted roster.

James also added six rebounds and controlled the tempo from the opening minutes. The Lakers established early separation and never trailed after building a double-digit cushion in the first quarter.

Los Angeles improved its position in the standings at 52-29 and remains one game behind Denver for third place. The tiebreaker advantage over the Nuggets ensures the Lakers will finish no lower than the fourth seed.

Phoenix struggled offensively throughout the night, finishing with its lowest-scoring output of the season. The Suns shot 34 percent from the field and 17 percent from three-point range.

Devin Booker did not play due to right ankle management, while Jalen Green also sat out with knee soreness. Dillon Brooks led Phoenix with 12 points in a limited offensive showing.

James set the tone early, scoring or assisting on nine of the Lakers’ first 10 field goals. Los Angeles quickly stretched the lead to 16 points as Phoenix’s half-court execution stalled under defensive pressure.

Luke Kennard added 19 points for Los Angeles, providing consistent perimeter scoring alongside James’ playmaking. Rui Hachimura contributed 13 points and helped maintain offensive spacing.

The Lakers continued to control the game on both ends, with efficient ball movement and strong defensive rotations limiting Phoenix’s second-chance opportunities.

James also reached a major career milestone by recording his 12,000th assist in the first half, becoming only the fourth player in league history to achieve the mark.

Marcus Smart returned after a nine-game absence and contributed six points and seven assists, helping stabilize the backcourt rotation.

Phoenix briefly attempted to respond through physical defense and transition scoring, but turnovers and cold shooting prevented any sustained run.

Los Angeles has now won 15 of its last 19 games, reinforcing its late-season consistency despite injuries to key contributors throughout the roster.

Up next, the Suns travel to face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday, while the Lakers host the Utah Jazz in their regular-season finale.
