The Miami Heat delivered one of the highest-scoring games in franchise history Saturday, defeating the Washington Wizards 152-136 at Kaseya Center.
Miami reached the 150-point mark for the third time in team history while shooting 58% from the field and 44% from three-point range in a game that featured 288 combined points.
Jaime Jaquez Jr. led the Heat with 32 points on 12-of-18 shooting in 32 minutes before quickly departing the arena to travel to Phoenix for the NCAA women’s championship game. The Miami forward is a UCLA alumnus, and his sister Gabriela will play for the Bruins in Sunday’s title matchup against South Carolina.
Kel’el Ware delivered a dominant two-way performance with 24 points, 19 rebounds, and seven blocks. He shot 10-of-15 from the field and grabbed five offensive rebounds, helping Miami control second-chance opportunities.
Andrew Wiggins added 21 points while Pelle Larsson scored 16 points and collected seven rebounds. The Heat finished with 49 rebounds and 42 assists, repeatedly generating open looks through ball movement.
Bam Adebayo, who scored 83 points in Miami’s previous meeting with Washington on March 10, drew immediate defensive attention. The Wizards sent a triple-team on his first possession, yet the center still finished with 14 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.
Miami built a lead that reached 35 points during the game as its offense maintained a high pace throughout the night.
Washington, already eliminated from playoff contention and now holding a 17-60 record, received a strong scoring effort from rookie Will Riley. The guard finished with 31 points on 12-of-17 shooting.
Sharife Cooper added 20 points and seven assists off the bench, while Jaden Hardy contributed 19 points and five three-pointers.
Despite shooting 47% overall and hitting 17 three-pointers, the Wizards struggled to contain Miami’s offense and allowed 54 made field goals.
The victory improved Miami to 41-37, placing the club 10th in the Eastern Conference standings and within the play-in tournament positions as the regular season enters its final stretch.
The Wizards, who have now reached 60 losses for the third consecutive season, dropped their fifth straight game.
Washington continues its road trip Sunday with a visit to Brooklyn, while Miami travels to Toronto on Tuesday.
