The San Antonio Spurs extended one of the NBA’s strongest late-season runs Saturday night, defeating the Indiana Pacers 134-119 at Frost Bank Center.
San Antonio never trailed in the game and improved to 53-18, its highest win total since finishing 61-21 during the 2016-17 season.
Keldon Johnson and rookie guard Dylan Harper each scored 24 points to lead a balanced offensive performance that featured seven Spurs players with at least six points.
Harper delivered the best game of his young career in his first NBA start, shooting 9-of-13 from the field while adding four rebounds and three assists.
Johnson matched that scoring output off the bench, converting 10-of-12 attempts and adding four rebounds and four assists in 25 minutes.
Victor Wembanyama contributed across the stat sheet with 20 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five blocks in 26 minutes. The All-Star center controlled the paint defensively and protected the rim throughout the night.
San Antonio quickly turned the defensive stop into offense, with Wembanyama delivering an alley-oop pass to rookie Carter Bryant on the next possession for a layup.
De’Aaron Fox added 14 points and seven assists while helping the Spurs maintain offensive pace without starting guard Devin Vassell, who was ruled out shortly before tipoff with right hamstring tightness.
San Antonio shot 55% from the field and 38% from three-point range while recording 33 assists.
The victory continued a dominant stretch for the Spurs, who have now won 21 of their last 23 games and sit second in the Western Conference standings.
Indiana struggled to slow San Antonio’s offense while dealing with injuries throughout the roster. The Pacers entered the game with three players already sidelined and ten listed as questionable, though nine of those players were able to suit up.
Andrew Nembhard led Indiana with 25 points and seven assists while shooting 8-of-13 from the field.
Jarace Walker added 21 points and knocked down five 3-pointers, while Pascal Siakam finished with 14 points and five assists.
Indiana shot 52% from the field and hit 16 three-pointers but could not contain San Antonio’s interior scoring or transition offense.
The loss extended the Pacers’ franchise-record losing streak to 16 games and dropped them to 15-56, the worst record in the Eastern Conference.
San Antonio will look to continue its strong form Monday when it visits the Miami Heat. The Pacers remain on the road and will face the Orlando Magic on Monday night.
