Anthony Edwards led the Minnesota Timberwolves with 42 points, eight rebounds, and five assists in Friday’s 127-117 victory over the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center. “ Yeah, yeah, I could have avoided it. But like I said, it’s part of the game,” Edwards said regarding a minor knee scare late in the fourth quarter.
Edwards acknowledged there was some uncertainty about his availability. “Yeah, there was some doubt. Yeah, for sure. But good big picture,” he added.
The star guard addressed Minnesota’s inconsistency this season. “Just trying to go game by game… just trying to figure out what we got to do to be able to come out with a win no matter how it is,” Edwards explained.
On the defensive side, Edwards pointed to miscommunication and turnovers as major challenges. “Just miscommunication. Teams jumping at us early. Us turning the ball over definitely doesn’t help when our defense is not at a high level,” he said, reflecting on struggles in recent games, including a 153-point loss to the Clippers.
Edwards also discussed his relationship with Stephen Curry. “Yeah, love Steph. Love everything about him. To me, greatest point guard. Just love to play against him,” he said, noting the bond developed during their time together on Team USA. On Curry’s rap knowledge, Edwards added with a laugh, “He actually don’t know a lot of rap music… But yeah, he’s super cool.”
Looking ahead, Edwards noted the Timberwolves’ motivation for their upcoming matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder. “Yeah, for sure. There’s nothing to say about that game. Everybody knows,” he said.
Minnesota overcame a three-game losing streak with Edwards’ performance, combining efficient shooting (13-of-22 from the field, 12-of-12 from free throws) with support from Rudy Gobert, who added 18 points and nine rebounds. The win improved the Timberwolves to 41-26, solidifying their position in the Western Conference playoff race.
Edwards’ comments underscored both his individual accountability and focus on team execution. “I’m just trying to figure out what we got to do to come out with a win no matter how it is,” he reiterated.
