In response to the update that Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors is expected to miss at least the next five games due to his ongoing knee issue, Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area floated the idea that the Warriors could consider holding their star guard out until the play-in tournament.
With a 4.5-game cushion separating Golden State from the No. 6 Lakers and a 7.5-game advantage over the No. 11 Grizzlies, Johnson points out that the standings provide some flexibility, making a cautious approach a reasonable option.
Prioritizing Curry’s long-term health over a rushed return could help prevent further complications.
“It’s just something that you don’t want to have lingering because it can get worse,” the player said when asked about the injury.
Curry has played 17 seasons for the Warriors. He has averaged 24.8 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.7 rebounds in 1,065 regular-season games.
He was selected to play in 11 All-Star games. He has won 2 MVP awards, 1 Finals MVP award, and 4 NBA championships.
