The Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors are heading into Saturday night’s game at Chase Center with notable injury concerns.
The Lakers are missing Bronny James and Adou Thiero, both on G League assignments, while Rui Hachimura is listed as doubtful due to illness.
Golden State faces significant absences as well, including Jimmy Butler out with a right ACL injury following surgery and Seth Curry sidelined for left sciatic nerve irritation. Stephen Curry is also out due to right patellofemoral pain syndrome. Kristaps Porzingis is questionable with a general illness, while Draymond Green is probable managing a left low back issue. LJ Cryer is unavailable as a two-way player in the G League.
These absences leave the Lakers relying heavily on Luka Doncic, who leads the team averaging 32.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game. Austin Reaves has contributed 24.6 points on 50.2% shooting overall, complementing LeBron James’ 21.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Deandre Ayton provides interior strength with 13 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.
For the Warriors, Brandin Podziemski and Moses Moody will carry much of the scoring load in the absence of the Curry brothers and Butler. Podziemski is averaging 12.3 points per game, while Moody contributes 12 points with 2.5 three-pointers per contest. Green’s presence remains key for defensive stability, averaging 5.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game.
Recent trends indicate the Lakers are struggling, having lost their last two games by narrow margins: 110-113 to the Phoenix Suns and 109-110 to the Orlando Magic.
The Warriors, conversely, are on a two-game winning streak, defeating the Memphis Grizzlies 133-112 and the Denver Nuggets 128-117.
This season, the teams have split their previous matchups. The Lakers won 105-99 at home on February 7, while the Warriors took a 119-109 victory at the same venue on October 21.
Saturday’s matchup could be pivotal for playoff positioning, with the Lakers holding a 34-24 record in sixth place in the Western Conference and the Warriors sitting eighth at 31-28.
The game tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET at Chase Center in San Francisco.
