Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: “Being a follower was never allowed in my house”

Here’s Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on where his leadership qualities come from.

“Growing up, my parents were always like, ‘Always be the leader.’ Like if I came home and I got in trouble and I was like, ‘Oh, my friend was doing this.’ The roof was bout to come off the house. Being a follower was never allowed in my house, so it’s just natural, it’s innate in me and my brother and my cousins. It’s just something that was always… that was the first and foremost when you left the house, ‘Be a leader in the world.’ And usually things, they go your way when you do it your way the right way and you have the right intentions, obviously, the right teaching.”
