Kyle Kuzma: “We got to shoot threes”

Milwaukee Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma addressed the team’s offensive issues following a 107-79 loss to the Boston Celtics on Sunday at TD Garden.

“Team not going to make everything for a whole game but what disconnected… offensively we just couldn’t quite score enough,” Kuzma said, describing the Bucks’ underwhelming 35% shooting.

He credited Boston’s defense for disrupting the game plan. “Got to give one credit to them… defensively they did a pretty good job knowing our plays, getting us out of actions,” Kuzma explained.

The forward pointed to a lack of ball movement after the first quarter as a key factor. “We just didn’t move the ball as well… when you look at a team shooting under 40%, it’s usually either you’re missing or a rhythm factor,” he added.

Kuzma highlighted the team’s three-point shooting as an area of concern. “We got to shoot threes… they were 15 for 41 and we were 9 for 30… we didn’t take enough threes,” he said, emphasizing the need to match opponents’ long-range output.

Offensive rebounding also proved decisive. “We didn’t do a good job boxing out… if you’re not Brown or somebody else, you’re going to the rim and they have a great system,” Kuzma noted.

Kuzma reflected on the significance of the inaugural NBA Pioneers Classic, where the league honored its first Black players. “It’s an honor… the NBA does a great job with storytelling… this is another storybook the NBA’s portraying for everybody,” he said.

The Bucks’ leading scorer Ryan Rollins had 25 points, while Kuzma added 16. Boston’s balanced attack included Jaylen Brown with 30 points and 13 rebounds and Anfernee Simons with 27 off the bench.

Kuzma’s comments highlight the challenges the Bucks face in finding offensive rhythm, executing proper spacing, and improving rebounding. The team falls to 18-29 while Boston rises to 31-18, earning their second straight win.

Milwaukee and Boston will meet again on Tuesday, with the Bucks hosting the Chicago Bulls and the Celtics in Dallas.
