Detroit Pistons head coach J.B. Bickerstaff has been selected to coach one of the three All-Star teams at next month’s NBA All-Star Game, a nod to the strong season his team has put together.
The Pistons are set to enter the All-Star break owning the best record in the Eastern Conference, a performance that earned Bickerstaff the coaching honor.
This year’s All-Star Game will look different from previous editions, as the league is introducing a new format.
Instead of a single exhibition matchup, the event will feature three separate teams of All-Stars, with two rosters made up of players from the United States and a third team consisting of international players.
These teams will compete in a round-robin style mini-tournament made up of quarter-length games.
After each team has played, the two squads with the strongest records will advance to a final, also played over one quarter, to decide the overall All-Star Game champion.
