The Charlotte Hornets (14-25) stormed past the Utah Jazz (13-25) 150-95 on Saturday at the Delta Center, building a 47-point lead by halftime in one of the franchise’s largest victories.
Brandon Miller led the Hornets with 18 points, while LaMelo Ball added 17 as Charlotte raced out to a 45-14 first-quarter advantage.
Tre Mann contributed 20 points in just 12 minutes off the bench, and Miles Bridges and Collin Sexton each scored 15 as the Hornets maintained a 57-point margin in the second half.
Charlotte shot 52 percent from the field and made 24 of 59 3-pointers, compared to Utah’s 36 attempts with just one successful three in the first half.
Ryan Kalkbrenner returned from a 10-game absence with a sprained left elbow, posting 12 points and nine rebounds, while Grant Williams made his first appearance since November 2024, hitting consecutive 3-pointers during a 23-2 Hornets run.
The Jazz were without leading scorer Lauri Markkanen and starting center Jusuf Nurkic, while Brice Sensabaugh led Utah with 26 points.
Charlotte’s defense dominated early, holding Utah scoreless for more than five minutes while scoring 17 straight points to extend the lead to 39-8. Miles Bridges capped a first-half 77-30 advantage with a 3-pointer at 1:41 in the second quarter.
The Hornets outpaced Utah from deep, finishing 20 of 25 from the charity stripe and creating scoring opportunities with active ball movement and relentless transition play.
Charlotte improved to 2-1 in its last three games after narrow losses to Toronto and Indiana, demonstrating resilience with a dominant offensive and defensive display.
Utah struggled on the boards and perimeter, finishing with 41 percent from the field and just 7 of 31 from 3-point range, while committing 21 turnovers.
The Hornets visit the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday, and the Jazz travel to Cleveland for another tough matchup.
