Toumani Camara scored 25 points to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a 111-105 victory over the Houston Rockets at Moda Center on Friday, extending Portland’s winning streak to five games. Shaedon Sharpe and Deni Avdija each added 20 points as the Blazers overcame a late push from Houston.
Kevin Durant recorded 30 points and 12 rebounds for the Rockets, surpassing Wilt Chamberlain for seventh on the NBA’s all-time scoring list with 31,422 points. Amen Thompson contributed 24 points and nine rebounds, but Houston could not hold off Portland’s rally in the final period.
The Rockets led 86-74 in the third quarter following Durant’s 3-pointer, but the Blazers trimmed the deficit with Duop Reath’s three and Camara’s dunk to keep the game close. Avdija’s 3-pointer with 3:54 remaining tied the game at 99-98, and his four consecutive free throws gave Portland a lead they would not relinquish.
Portland stretched the advantage to 107-103 on Sidy Cissoko’s dunk and maintained control through the closing minutes. The Blazers shot 42% from three-point range and 91% from the free-throw line, showing depth despite missing Jerami Grant and Jrue Holiday due to injuries.
Durant’s scoring kept Houston competitive, but the Rockets went just 23% from three, limiting their chances for a comeback. The Blazers’ bench contributed key minutes, helping Portland navigate the absence of their injured starters.
With the win, Portland improves to 19-20 and continues to build momentum in the Western Conference. Houston drops to 22-13, seeking to rebound when they visit Sacramento on Sunday. Portland will host the New York Knicks in their next matchup.
