Olympiacos Piraeus announced on Monday, January 5, the signing of American center Tyrique Jones from Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade on a 2.5-year contract. The move adds a proven EuroLeague performer to Olympiacos’ frontcourt rotation.
Partizan confirmed the transfer, stating, “Tyrique Jones will no longer wear the Partizan Mozzart Bet jersey. Following an agreement reached last night, the player will have the opportunity to continue his career with another club, while Partizan will receive appropriate financial compensation for the transfer.”
Jones, 28, averaged 10.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.2 steals over 17 EuroLeague games for Partizan this season, playing 23:36 minutes per contest. In the Adriatic League, he contributed 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds across 10 games.
The center brings a history of high-level European success, including winning the Adriatic League title in 2025 with Partizan and earning Finals MVP honors. Jones also won the Turkish League MVP in 2023 and led the Italian League in rebounding in 2022, showcasing his ability to impact multiple leagues.
Olympiacos currently sits seventh in the 2025–26 EuroLeague standings with an 11–7 record. The team’s roster already features strong interior players like Nikola Milutinov, who averages 11 points and 7.7 rebounds per contest. Jones’ addition gives the team more size and versatility as they push toward the playoffs.
In 19 EuroLeague games this season, Jones has posted a performance index rating of 16.2 with Partizan, ranking among the club’s most productive players. Olympiacos coach Giorgos Bartzokas now has a new option at center, blending Jones’ physicality with the team’s existing rotation.
The transfer provides Olympiacos with immediate frontcourt depth as they prepare for a challenging road matchup against defending champion Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul on Tuesday. Partizan will travel to Monaco on the same day, beginning a search for replacements in the post-Jones rotation.
