Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue lauded his team’s growth following a dominant 131-90 win over the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday at the Intuit Dome.

“We’re growing as a team and understanding what we need to do,” Lue said, noting that defensive intensity set the tone for the victory. “KD’s the ring leader on the defensive end and he did a good job tonight.”

Lue credited Kawhi Leonard and James Harden for balancing scoring and creating opportunities. “I give a lot of credit to Kawhi and James…getting guys open shots but scoring the ball as well,” he said. Leonard led all scorers with 33 points, while Harden added 21.

The coach emphasized team resilience and positivity. “Very proud…our guys could have easily packed it in, but the coaching staff stayed positive, worked with the guys, and that positivity got us through a lot of tough nights,” Lue said, highlighting the Clippers’ five-game winning streak.

Lue also discussed how a season reset helped the team refocus. “Just starting all over, not worrying about being six and 21…our guys are putting it behind them and keeping work going,” he said, referencing messages from team leaders Trent and Lawrence.

Young players also impressed in the blowout. “Yanic’s energy…sprinting in pick-and-rolls and getting behind the defense was really good,” Lue said of Yanic Konan Niederhauser, who scored 16 points with eight rebounds.

Derrick Jones Jr. showed improvement after returning from injury. “Just getting more comfortable, trusting it, not having to think…he and KD defensively really changed the game for us,” Lue said.

Kris Dunn’s shooting and defensive contributions were also noted. “He works every day on his shot…all the hard work is paying off,” Lue said, referencing Dunn’s season 41% mark from three-point range and leadership on defense.

The Clippers dominated in the paint and on the boards, outrebounding Sacramento 42-41 and limiting the Kings to 41% shooting. Sacramento struggled with 19 turnovers, converting into 28 points for Los Angeles.

Despite missing center Ivica Zubac to a left ankle sprain, the Clippers’ ball movement and defensive execution allowed them to coast in the fourth quarter, posting their largest margin of victory this season.

Los Angeles improves to 35-20, extending its five-game winning streak, while Sacramento drops to 19-36. The Clippers host the Utah Jazz Thursday, and the Kings face the Boston Celtics at home the same day.
