Encouraging early-season performances from Jordan Walsh and Neemias Queta have put both players on the Boston Celtics’ radar when it comes to potential long-term planning.

In a recent mailbag column, Brian Robb suggested that Boston may eventually explore extension talks if the upward trends continue.

Walsh’s situation presents an earlier decision point. The Celtics control a $2.4 million team option for next season, but Robb notes that the organization could opt to pass on that option in favor of negotiating a longer contract.

Taking that route would lock Walsh in beyond the short term and eliminate the risk of him reaching unrestricted free agency in the summer of 2027 if his development keeps progressing.

Queta’s timeline is slightly different, as he won’t be extension-eligible until next season. Still, Robb believes the possibility is very real if the big man maintains his current level of play.

Continued consistency and impact could make Queta another candidate for Boston to prioritize as it looks to secure promising contributors before they hit the open market.
