The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame has announced its list of first-time eligible candidates for the class of 2026, highlighted by former NBA stars Blake Griffin and Joe Johnson.
Both are entering Hall of Fame consideration after long, decorated professional careers.
On the women’s side, former WNBA MVPs Elena Delle Donne and Candace Parker are also first-time nominees and are widely viewed as strong candidates for induction.
The ballot also welcomes new coaching and contributor nominees, including Kelvin Sampson, Bruce Pearl, and Mike D’Antoni.
Returning candidates such as Mark Few, Doc Rivers, Amar’e Stoudemire, and Shawn Marion remain in the mix. Finalists will be revealed on February 9, with the full 2026 class set to be announced on April 4.
Griffin, the top pick in the 2009 draft, overcame a lost rookie season due to knee surgery to win Rookie of the Year in 2010/11 and earn six All-Star selections and five All-NBA honors across 13 seasons.
Johnson, drafted 10th in 2001, played 18 years in the league, making seven All-Star teams and earning one All-NBA nod during the 2009/10 campaign.
