After re-signing the core of its championship team from last season, Turkish Airlines Euroleague champion CSKA Moscow on Friday added depth for next season by signing forward Semen Antonov to a two-year contract with an option for a third season, as well.
Antonov (2.02 meters, 27 years old) arrives from a fellow Russian side Nizhny Novgorod where he spent the last six years and served as a team captain. Last season on the way to Eurocup quarterfinals, Antonov posted 13.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists in that competition.
In VTB League action, he had 12.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists. Through six years with the club, Antonov helped Nizhny compete in the 2014-15 Turkish Airlines Euroleague and reach the Top 16, make it to the Eurocup semifinals and VTB finals in 2014, and to the Russian Cup final in 2011.
Antonov started his career with Avtodor Saratov and also played for TSU-Basket Tambov before joining Nizhny in 2010. As a member of the national team, he helped Russia conquer back-to-back bronze medals at EuroBasket 2011 in Lithuania and the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England.
