Dominick Barlow has stepped into the most stable role of his young NBA career, earning steady rotation minutes with the Sixers after joining the team on a two-way contract this past offseason.

Before arriving in Philadelphia, Barlow spent last year on a two-way deal with the Hawks, where he showed flashes but never carved out the same level of nightly opportunity he’s getting now.

His former coach in Atlanta, Quin Snyder, isn’t surprised to see Barlow thriving. Speaking to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Snyder praised the forward’s instincts and overall understanding of the game.

“He really knows how to play,” Snyder said. “And he gave us, in a stretch where we really needed someone to come in and not only give us good minutes, but kind of connect as a team.

“And I think it’s unusual for a player in (a two-way) position to have that kind of impact on the group. … He’s got a great feel for the game, can pass, handle, just a smart player. Very committed to helping the team in any way he can.”
