Valencia turns Roig Arena into a fortress with win over Real Madrid

Valencia Basket continued its strong start to the EuroLeague season with an 89–76 victory over Real Madrid on Tuesday at Roig Arena, improving to 6–4.

The win marked Valencia’s first triumph over Los Blancos at their new home and their second of the season against the Spanish giants. A record 14,922 fans witnessed Las Taronjas dominate from start to finish.

Omari Moore led the hosts with 16 points and 5 rebounds, while Nate Reuvers contributed 14 points and 2 blocks. Jean Montero added 9 points, and Darius Thompson scored 14, helping Valencia maintain control in each quarter.

Valencia shot 50% from two-point range and 39% from three, while converting 13-of-21 free throws. The team also outrebounded Real Madrid 37–51, securing key defensive boards to limit Madrid’s second-chance opportunities.

Real Madrid struggled on the road, as they often have this season, with Trey Lyles scoring 23 points and Facundo Campazzo adding 15. Maledon had 14 points, Mario Hezonja posted 11 points, while Walter Tavares contributed 5 points and 5 rebounds. The visitors shot just 22.6% from three, making it difficult to challenge Valencia’s lead.

Valencia built a steady advantage through fast-paced offense and consistent energy, holding a narrow 45–38 lead at halftime and keeping Madrid at bay in the second half. Moore and Reuvers led the charge, with strong defensive efforts preventing Madrid from gaining momentum.

Valencia will take its momentum on the road Thursday against Paris Basketball, while Real Madrid hosts Panathinaikos in Round 11. With this win, Las Taronjas have now won all seven games at Roig Arena with fans in attendance, demonstrating that the new arena has quickly become a true home-court advantage.
