Rookie guard Dylan Harper sustained a calf injury during the San Antonio Spurs’ 130–118 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night. The injury occurred in the second quarter, and Harper did not return to the game.

Afterward, the 19-year-old was seen leaving the arena wearing a walking boot and using crutches, an indication that the team is likely to proceed cautiously with his recovery.

“I believe it’s something with his calf, but I don’t have anything as of yet,” Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson said following the game, noting that the team would have more information after further evaluation.

Harper has been an important contributor early in his rookie season, averaging 14.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. His absence would be a setback for San Antonio, which has relied on his scoring and energy in the backcourt.
