The Charlotte Hornets waived Spencer Dinwiddie after signing a one-year, $3.6 million deal in early July, per Shams Charania.

The Hornets have no choice but to release because of guaranteed salary ahead of the regular season opener to finalize their roster.

Dinwiddie has played in two preseason games with Charlotte, averaging 14.3 points and 6.2 assists in 30 games as a starter for the Dallas Mavericks last season.

The 11-year veteran would be playing his 12th season, bringing considerable experience to the team, as he gained it during the Mavericks’ Western Conference finals stint in 2022.

The 6-foot-5 guard also played for the Detroit Pistons, Washington Wizards, and Los Angeles Lakers throughout his career, averaging 13 points and 5.1 assists in 27.7 minutes per game across 621 contests.
