Top recruit AJ Dybantsa revealed Kevin Durant was the player he admired most while growing up. Speaking on Boardroom Talks, Dybantsa praised Durant’s efficiency and fluidity on the court.

“Bro, Kevin Durant was my favorite player since I started watching them play,” Dybantsa said, via HoopsHype. He added that Durant’s ability to create easy scoring opportunities stood out.

Dybantsa highlighted Durant’s simple yet effective style. “Two, three dribbles, get you in your spot. That’s what a real professional looks like,” he said, noting the superstar’s consistent performance without overcomplicating his game.

Durant, a 15-time All-Star and one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history, was traded to the Houston Rockets on July 6, in a historic seven-team deal. His career spans stints with Seattle, Oklahoma City, Golden State, Brooklyn, and Phoenix.

During his NBA career, Durant has averaged 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game, while shooting 50.2% from the field and 39.0% from three-point range. He has been known for his efficiency, scoring ability, and versatility on both ends of the floor.

Dybantsa, the top-ranked recruit in the 2025 class, is set to play for the BYU Cougars in the Big 12 Conference. His admiration for Durant reflects the influence elite NBA players have on aspiring athletes.

The 6-foot-6 Dybantsa, who reclassified from the 2026 class, enters BYU with high expectations.
