Washington pulled away for a 120-103 preseason win over New York at Madison Square Garden on Monday. The Wizards evened their record at 1-1, while the Knicks dropped to 3-1.

The Wizards opened a 36-26 lead after the first quarter. Marvin Bagley III scored six points with two rebounds, including a tip-in layup.

Bub Carrington added five points with two assists. New York’s bench players stepped up without their full starting lineup, as Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Mitchell Robinson sat out due to coach’s decision.

Washington extended the margin to 75-52 at halftime after a 39-26 second-quarter edge. Bagley III tallied 12 points and four rebounds by the break.

Kyshawn George contributed eight points with three assists. Jordan Clarkson led the Knicks with five points on a three and layup.

The Wizards held a 100-75 lead entering the fourth after outscoring New York 25-23 in the third. Bagley III finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Will Riley scored 17 points off the bench for Washington, including three threes.

Tyler Kolek paced the Knicks with 20 points and six assists in 23 minutes.

New York narrowed the gap to 103-101 late in the fourth with 28 points, but Washington added 17 to close it out. Carrington ended with 10 points and three assists.

Julian Champagnie tallied 10 points with two steals. Clarkson topped the Knicks with 12 points on 4-of-11 shooting.

Guerschon Yabusele added 11 points and five rebounds. Washington scored 54 points in the paint to New York’s 44.

The Wizards turned 14 turnovers into 23 points.
