During the New York Knicks’ two preseason games overseas, head coach Mike Brown kept a tight limit on his starters’ playing time, with none of them logging more than 18 minutes.

Now that the team has returned from the international trip, Brown is ready to gradually increase their workload, reports Andrew Crane of The New York Post.

The focus is on sharpening conditioning and building rhythm as the regular season approaches. Jalen Brunson emphasized that even in limited minutes, the approach has been about maintaining intensity and preparation.

“Getting closer to the season, getting closer to the real thing, we’re still preparing as well as we need to be,” Brunson said.

“So we’ll just continue with that preparation and that focus, and yeah, obviously minutes aren’t what they would be in a regular season game, but everything matters what we do.”

Brunson has played 7 seasons for the Mavericks and Knicks. He has averaged 18.1 points, 5.0 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 487 regular-season games. He was selected to play in 2 All-Star games.
