The Golden State Warriors are off to a great start as they outlasted the Los Angeles Lakers, 111-103 after a last-minute revamp this offseason.
The spotlight revolves around veterans Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler, and Al Horford, who were already in their mid-30s, competing for over 15 minutes in the first preseason game.
The four-time champion applauded Hordford’s presence in both offense and defense, where veteran chemistry can help them win games throughout the season.
“He gives space, he gives his presence on the defensive end, you saw the pass he made to me out of the corner. It’s just kind of the unspoken chemistry that will continue to get better,” said Curry during the post-conference.
Curry is excited about how it will work in the next games since they already have a multidimensional center who also has immense experience, especially being a championship-caliber player.
He continued, “(Horford) is multidimensional as a (center). I’m excited to see what that looks like for me, for Jimmy (Butler), (Jonathan Kuminga, Draymond (Green).”
Steve Kerr goes small again, citing past successes
Warriors head tactician Steve Kerr started with a small-ball first five again, featuring Curry, Podziemski, Moody, Butler, and Green, due to its past success in the last season, where it became effective.
“It doesn’t mean Draymond is going to be logging heavy minutes at the five.”
