Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr called the arrival of Seth Curry to the team “awesome,” as the veteran guard prepares to join his brother Stephen in the backcourt. Kerr highlighted that the timing is ideal for both players, with each at a point in their careers where this partnership makes sense.
Seth Curry agreed to a one-year Exhibit 9 deal with Golden State, reuniting with Stephen for the first time in regular-season NBA action. The contract keeps Curry in training camp, with plans for re-signing once roster flexibility allows during the regular season.
The signing also represents a homecoming for Seth, who began his professional career with the Warriors’ G League affiliate in 2013–14. Over 11 NBA seasons, Curry has established himself as one of the league’s most accurate perimeter shooters, with a career three-point percentage of 43.3%.
Last season, Curry split time between Dallas and Charlotte, averaging 6.5 points per game while shooting 47.8% from the field and 45.6% from three-point range. Despite limited minutes, he remained a reliable option as a spot-up shooter.
Golden State has emphasized improving bench scoring and perimeter shooting this offseason. With Brandin Podziemski sidelined and Buddy Hield expected to take on a heavy offensive load, Curry provides Kerr with an additional floor-spacing weapon.
The Warriors’ roster also includes stars Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler, and Stephen Curry, with Seth’s addition enhancing both depth and veteran leadership. The team hopes his presence can balance the backcourt while opening opportunities for offensive spacing.
Seth Curry’s playoff résumé adds value, notably a 2021 postseason with Philadelphia, where he averaged 18.8 points per game while shooting over 50% from three.
Kerr reflected on Seth’s journey, noting that he carved out a strong NBA career independently before returning to the Warriors. “It feels like they’re both at a point in their careers where this makes a ton of sense,” Kerr said, via NBC Sports Bay Area, describing the first meeting with the brothers together as “pretty awesome.”
