New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns praised teammate Jalen Brunson for his composure and leadership on and off the court. Speaking to Yahoo Sports, Towns described Brunson as “very stoic” and compared his presence to a Marvel superhero.
“I think his public perception is stoic. His game is stoic. It just has a lot of ease to it and very calming,” Towns said, via HoopsHype. He credited Brunson’s demeanor for helping the team remain composed in high-pressure situations.
Brunson, the 2024 NBA Clutch Player of the Year, has consistently delivered in critical moments. During the 2024-25 season, he led the Knicks with multiple 40-point playoff games and set franchise records for fourth-quarter scoring in the postseason.
Towns emphasized that Brunson’s calm approach makes teammates elevate their own performances. “He never feels the moment is too big for him,” he said. “That kind of mindset inspires the rest of us.”
Towns also reflected on his relationship with head coach Mike Brown, noting the importance of building a foundation outside basketball. “I didn’t even want to talk basketball with him. We got to know each other first, and a good foundation was built,” Towns explained.
Brunson and Towns now anchor a Knicks roster that has embraced their new coach, Mike Brown. With leadership on both ends, the team aims to build on its strong playoff run from last season.
Towns’ admiration for Brunson reflects the point guard’s influence in New York. “He’s calm, collected, and demands excellence without saying a word,” Towns said.
