Fenerbahçe Sports Club has entered a new chapter in its leadership after the results of the Extraordinary General Assembly, where Sadettin Saran was elected as the club’s new president.

Saran narrowly defeated outgoing president Ali Koç by one of the slimmest margins ever recorded in the club’s elections. He earned 12,325 votes, compared to Koç’s 12,068 – a difference of only 257 ballots.

According to local reports, the result highlights just how divided, yet passionate, the Fenerbahçe community was about the future direction of the club.

Saran, the head of Saran Holding and a long-time supporter and benefactor of Fenerbahçe, now takes the reins with an ambitious agenda.

His stated goal is to guide the club’s many branches, from football to basketball and beyond, toward consistent championship contention.

“Our priority is to build on the traditions of Fenerbahçe and to make sure that every branch of our club is competing for titles,” Saran said following his victory.

Koç, who had been at the helm since 2018, stepped down after seven years in charge. His tenure oversaw significant financial restructuring and modernization of the club, though not all sporting goals were achieved.

For many supporters, his departure marks the end of an era, while Saran’s arrival signals a renewed push for both domestic and European success.
