Kendrick Perkins believes Jonathan Kuminga’s situation with the Golden State Warriors is clear.

On NBA Today, Perkins addressed the 22-year-old forward’s contract standoff.

“I don’t know if Jonathan Kuminga watches NBA Today, but they don’t want you, dawg,” Perkins said, via Fadeaway World. “They don’t value you because if they did, you wouldn’t be going through this. And it started last season, Steve Kerr showed you how he felt about you.”

Kuminga is weighing a $7.9 million qualifying offer that expires October 1. Accepting it would make him an unrestricted free agent in 2026 while granting him a no-trade clause for the upcoming season.

The Warriors, meanwhile, have offered a two-year, $45 million structure with a team option in Year 2, according to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line. That proposal would strip away Kuminga’s leverage and ability to block a trade in the first season.

Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area previously noted the qualifying offer is the most enticing short-term path. Choosing that route could position Kuminga for a bigger payday in 2026, when teams like the Chicago Bulls are projected to have significant cap space.

Chicago has already emerged as a potential suitor, with Fischer reporting that the Bulls should not be “completely dismissed” as a destination.

Golden State has also quietly gauged the market. League sources told Fischer that Sacramento expressed interest in a sign-and-trade, while Brooklyn has moved out of the picture.

Despite public comments from owner Joe Lacob about Kuminga’s importance, stalled negotiations suggest the two sides remain far apart.

Kuminga is coming off his strongest NBA season, averaging 15.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. His athleticism and defensive versatility gave the Warriors depth during stretches when Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green were sidelined.
