Dwyane Wade has fired back at Mark Cuban’s long-standing suggestion that the 2006 NBA Finals were rigged in favor of the Miami Heat.

Speaking on his podcast, Wade addressed the Dallas Mavericks owner’s comments, insisting that Miami’s championship run was earned on the court.

“I heard Mark Cuban come out recently and say that he doesn’t care, he’s taking it to his grave — 2006 Finals were rigged,” Wade said, via HoopsHype. “Mark, stop saying that. Mark, we beat y’all.”

The former Heat star acknowledged that he received whistles during the series but emphasized that his aggressive style of play warranted calls. “Did we get some foul calls? Everybody gets foul calls,” Wade explained. “Was I the only one attacking the basket every play? Probably. So, bro, I’m going to get some whistles too.”

The 2006 Finals remain one of the most debated series in league history. Wade averaged 34.7 points per game as Miami rallied from a 0-2 deficit to defeat Dallas 4-2 and capture the franchise’s first NBA title.

Cuban has repeatedly voiced frustration over the officiating in that series. However, Wade pushed back against the notion that the referees determined the outcome.

“You’re not about to tarnish the work that I put in as a young guy to do something that not a lot of young guys have done in this game to say it was rigged,” Wade said. “Y’all got us, we got y’all.”

Wade also pointed to later playoff series where Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki benefited from favorable whistles, highlighting a game where Nowitzki attempted 24 free throws. He noted that such situations do not automatically imply referee bias.
