Tyrese Haliburton discussed his unique friendship with Joel Embiid on the IMPAULSIVE podcast. He noted that not many players in the NBA are close with Embiid.

Haliburton explained that the two connected during the 2024 Olympic team experience, which allowed him to build relationships with several top players. He emphasized that Embiid rarely reaches out to others, making their connection notable.

“Not many people are cool with Joel Embiid. I happen to be pretty cool with him. He actually FaceTimed me the other day,” Haliburton said, via HoopsHype. “You don’t call anybody. So he’s genuinely checking on me.”

Haliburton also described why Embiid keeps most people at a distance. “He goes out. He’s a cool-ass dude. I think he’s just wary of people,” he said. “He doesn’t let a ton of people in.”

The Indiana Pacers star shared that their relationship extends to working out in Los Angeles. Haliburton trains with the same coach as Embiid, who usually limits who can join him in the gym.

“He lets me stay. So I know I’m in his good graces when I’m there,” Haliburton added.

Haliburton’s comments provide rare insight into the personal side of the NBA star. While Embiid is known for his on-court dominance, his off-court relationships are more selective.
