The Swedish national basketball team has officially unveiled its 12-man roster for the upcoming FIBA EuroBasket 2025, with Miami Heat standout Pelle Larsson leading the charge.
Head coach Mikko Riipinen confirmed the squad ahead of their move to Tampere, where Sweden will kick off their EuroBasket journey with hopes of making a deep run in the tournament.
Sweden’s 2025 EuroBasket Roster:
Denzel Andersson, Simon Birgander, Tobias Borg, Wilhelm Falk, Viktor Gaddefors, Ludvig Hakanson, Pelle Larsson, Mattias Markusson, Barra Njie, Melwin Pantzar, Adam Ramstedt, Nicholas Spires
Sweden began their preparatory tour on a positive note with a win against Poland. However, that victory would ultimately stand as the only triumph of their friendly campaign, as the team fell to Iceland, Portugal, and Estonia, finishing with a 1-4 record in test matches.
Despite this rocky start, the squad is optimistic heading into the final tournament, led by the explosive talent of Pelle Larsson.
This marks Sweden’s return to the EuroBasket stage after a 12-year hiatus, having last competed in the 2013 tournament.
The team also boasts a solid core of experienced players, including Ludvig Hakanson, Simon Birgander, Melwin Pantzar, and Denzel Andersson, giving coach Riipinen a balanced mix of youth and veteran leadership.
With their chemistry and depth, the blue-and-yellow squad is poised to deliver some thrilling moments for fans.
Sweden will open the Group Phase in Tampere, facing off against Finland, reigning World Champions Germany, Great Britain, Lithuania, and Montenegro in Group B.
Their campaign tips off on August 27 at 19:30 CET against the Finnish co-hosts.
