After suffering a frightening exit in the previous matchup against Latvia, Luka Doncic received medical clearance to return – and he wasted no time reminding everyone why he is one of the best in the world.
Back in action for Slovenia in a preparation game against Great Britain, the Los Angeles superstar looked sharper than ever, putting on a commanding performance that fueled his team to a much-needed win.
Doncic led the way with a dazzling double-double of 28 points and 10 assists, orchestrating Slovenia’s offense with ease and delivering in clutch moments.
His all-around brilliance set the tone for the 93–81 victory, Slovenia’s first triumph in their buildup to FIBA EuroBasket 2025 after enduring four straight losses in warm-up play.
He was not alone in carrying the load. Gregor Hrovat chipped in with 15 points, while veteran sharpshooter Klemen Prepelic added 12 points along with 4 rebounds and 4 assists, providing stability on both ends of the floor.
The balanced contributions around Doncic highlighted Slovenia’s depth – a key factor if they are to make a deep EuroBasket run.
Great Britain, though ultimately falling short, showed plenty of fight and balance in their scoring.
Five different players reached double figures: Tarik Philipp and Myles Hesson both tallied 12 points, Patrick Whelan and Carl Wheatle followed with 11 apiece, and Akwasi Yeboah contributed 10.
Their ability to spread the scoring across the lineup kept them competitive for long stretches of the game.
Looking ahead, Slovenia will compete in Group D at EuroBasket 2025, where they face a challenging field that includes Poland, France, Israel, Belgium, and Iceland.
Great Britain, meanwhile, will battle in Group B, matched up with Finland, Germany, Lithuania, Sweden, and Montenegro.
Both teams will use these tune-up contests to sharpen their play and finalize rotations as they gear up for what promises to be a highly competitive tournament.
