The NBA’s new television partner, NBC, is stepping into a major role this season by taking over national coverage of the league’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day slate of games.
This year, the holiday falls on Monday, January 19, and basketball fans can look forward to a full day of marquee matchups broadcast nationally across NBC and its streaming platform, Peacock.
The celebration of the day will begin early, with action tipping off at 1:00 PM ET when the Milwaukee Bucks visit the Atlanta Hawks in a game available exclusively on Peacock. After that, NBC will take center stage with a triple-header of nationally televised games.
First, at 2:30 PM ET, the Oklahoma City Thunder will face the Cleveland Cavaliers. The afternoon excitement will continue at 5:00 PM ET when the Dallas Mavericks square off against the New York Knicks in a clash at Madison Square Garden.
Finally, the day will conclude with a primetime matchup at 8:00 PM ET as the Boston Celtics travel to take on the Detroit Pistons.
Beyond the holiday showcase, NBC will also host Monday night NBA games throughout the season, with up to three games streamed exclusively on Peacock each Monday night.
The first of these special Monday slates will be on October 27, featuring a double-header: the Cleveland Cavaliers visiting the Detroit Pistons at 7:00 PM ET, followed by the defending champion Denver Nuggets heading to Minnesota to battle the Timberwolves at 9:30 PM ET.
