On June 4, Portland Mayor Keith Wilson held a significant 30-minute phone conversation with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, during which they discussed the city’s strong commitment to keeping the Trail Blazers in Portland, according to Andrew Theen of Oregon Public Broadcasting.

This call came about three weeks after the announcement that the franchise was entering the process of being sold, a development that had sparked widespread attention and concern among local fans and officials alike.

The conversation between Wilson and Silver underscored the mayor’s active role in advocating for the team’s future in Portland, emphasizing the city’s willingness to collaborate closely with the NBA and franchise leadership to explore all possible avenues to ensure the Trail Blazers remain an integral part of the community.

Cody Bowman, a spokesperson for Mayor Wilson, added that the mayor “has been working closely” with the team’s executives and ownership representatives throughout the entire sale process.
