Luka Doncic has transformed his body, shedding 31 pounds (14 kilograms) since last summer, per Slovenian POP TV. The Los Angeles Lakers star is gearing up for the 2025-26 NBA season in peak condition.

In a Men’s Health interview, Doncic detailed his rigorous offseason routine. Twice-daily workouts and a disciplined diet fueled his dramatic transformation.

He trained in Croatia with Anze Macek and physiotherapist Javier Barrio. Sessions focused on strength, agility, and eccentric force to enhance his signature drives.

Doncic adopted a gluten-free, low-sugar diet with 250 grams of protein daily. He paired this with intermittent fasting, starting each day with a 90-minute fasted workout.

“This summer was different,” Doncic said. “It motivated me to be even better.”

After a tough 2024-25 season with the Lakers, he began training immediately. A full-body assessment in Madrid guided his summer regimen.

Doncic took a month off basketball in May to recover. He played pickleball and padel to boost lateral movement while sparing his joints.

He drew inspiration from NBA legends like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. “They sacrificed a lot,” Doncic said, citing their relentless work ethic.

His workouts emphasized deceleration and lateral agility. These skills are key to his playmaking and scoring ability.

The Slovenian star stressed the importance of consistency. “If I stop now, it was all for nothing,” he said.

Doncic’s transformation is timely as he prepares for EuroBasket 2025. He’ll represent Slovenia before rejoining the Lakers for training camp.

Slovenia faces Poland in their EuroBasket opener on August 28. Doncic’s new physique could elevate his leadership on the court.
