Simone Fontecchio has arrived in Folgaria, a scenic town in northern Italy, to join the Italian national team as they prepare for the upcoming EuroBasket tournament, reports Michele Nespoli of Sportando.

Although he is physically present with the squad, Fontecchio will have to wait until Wednesday, July 30, before he can officially begin training with the team.

This delay is due to the NBA’s specific regulations regarding player involvement in FIBA competitions, which set a clear timeline for when NBA players are permitted to start practice sessions with their national teams.

Despite the mandatory wait, Fontecchio made the proactive decision to arrive early, mirroring his approach from the previous year’s preparations in 2023.

By coming ahead of schedule, he aims to foster stronger communication and build rapport with his teammates and coaching staff well before he’s allowed to hit the court.

This early presence not only helps him stay mentally connected to the team’s strategy and goals but also facilitates a smoother transition into full training once the NBA’s restrictions are lifted.
