According to Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic, the Phoenix Suns are generally content with their current roster configuration, though league rules will require them to make at least one additional move before the start of the season.

On July 16, 2025, Bradley Beal was waived by the Suns following a contract buyout agreement. After trading away Kevin Durant earlier, the Suns have successfully moved below the NBA’s tax aprons.

This financial flexibility allows them to now package contracts in a trade, participate in sign-and-trade deals, and take advantage of mid-level exceptions – tools that were previously unavailable due to cap constraints.

Despite this, the team is not expected to pursue any major roster changes.

Rankin also notes that the Suns have shown some level of interest in restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga.

However, any pursuit of the young forward appears unlikely to gain traction, as Phoenix lacks the draft assets and trade pieces that would attract serious attention from the Golden State Warriors.

As for veteran free agents like Russell Westbrook and Al Horford, the Suns reportedly do not view them as part of their current plans.

Nonetheless, Phoenix will still need to sign at least one more player to its standard roster to meet the NBA’s minimum requirement of 14 players ahead of opening night.
