Landry Shamet could still find himself back in a New York Knicks uniform as the team evaluates options to fill its final roster spot, according to a report by Ian Begley of SportsNet New York.

Begley noted that while the Knicks have explored veteran point guards such as Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, and even monitored Marcus Smart’s situation in Washington, they are not exclusively pursuing ball-handlers. “New York still sees Landry Shamet as a possibility and Shamet remains open to returning to New York,” Begley reported.

The 28-year-old guard became an unrestricted free agent after his one-year, $1.7 million deal with the Knicks expired following the 2024–25 season. In 50 games last year, Shamet averaged 5.7 points per game on 46.1% shooting from the field and 39.7% from beyond the arc, while playing just over 15 minutes per contest.

Shamet first signed with the Knicks on September 14, 2024, but was waived in October after dislocating his shoulder during a preseason game. He later joined the Westchester Knicks in the G League before being brought back to the main roster in December.

During the postseason, Shamet appeared in 11 games, averaging 7.5 minutes and scoring 2.4 points per game. His shooting efficiency in limited playoff minutes — 46.7% from three-point range — demonstrated his potential value as a floor spacer off the bench.

Over his seven-year NBA career, Shamet has established himself as a reliable perimeter shooter, boasting a career 38.5% mark from deep.
