The New York Knicks are moving quickly to build Mike Brown’s coaching staff, with plans to hire Riccardo Fois, according to Fred Katz of The Athletic.
Katz reported via X: “The Knicks plan to add former Kings assistant Riccardo Fois to Mike Brown’s coaching staff, league source tells @TheAthletic. Fois is sitting with the Knicks’ contingent at their summer league game right now.”
Fois, who was not retained by the Sacramento Kings in May, has a diverse coaching résumé spanning the NBA, college basketball, and the Italian national team. He worked most recently as an assistant coach with Sacramento during the 2024–25 season.
Prior to his time with the Kings, Fois served as a player development coach for the Phoenix Suns, and as an assistant at the University of Arizona, where he helped develop players like Bennedict Mathurin and Dalen Terry.
He also held a prominent analytics role at Gonzaga from 2014 to 2019, working with players including Domantas Sabonis and Rui Hachimura.
Fois began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Pepperdine, shortly after finishing his playing career in Italy. He has also been an assistant with the Italian national team since 2017.
The Knicks recently hired Mike Brown following the dismissal of Tom Thibodeau. Brown, a two-time NBA Coach of the Year, inherits a team that reached the 2025 Eastern Conference Finals and is now tasked with sustaining their success.
