The Indiana Pacers officially announced Monday that they have re-signed center James Wiseman. As is customary with team policy, the franchise did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement.
According to Tony East of Sports Illustrated, league sources indicated before the announcement that the deal is a two-year minimum contract with a team option for the second season. The structure is reportedly similar to Wiseman’s prior Pacers contract, which included partial guarantees.
Wiseman originally joined Indiana on July 5, 2024, signing a two-year deal. However, his time was derailed early when he suffered a torn left Achilles tendon in the opening game of the 2024–25 season against the Detroit Pistons.
In February 2025, the Pacers traded Wiseman to the Toronto Raptors along with cash considerations in exchange for a heavily protected 2026 second-round pick. The Raptors waived him shortly after, leaving the former No. 2 overall draft pick without a team.
Now healthy, the 24-year-old center will get another opportunity to contribute in Indiana’s frontcourt. He has appeared in 148 career games with averages of 9.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks in 18.9 minutes per game.
During his brief appearance last season with Indiana before the injury, Wiseman logged just under five minutes in the opener, scoring six points and grabbing one rebound.
His most productive stretch came with the Detroit Pistons in 2022–23, when he posted 12.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game over 24 contests.
