Chris Paul is reportedly seeking a starting role with his next team, according to NBA insider Tim Reynolds. This desire has slowed his decision-making process in free agency.

The Los Angeles Clippers are said to be optimistic that Paul will rejoin them. Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks have expressed interest in adding the 40-year-old floor general, as reported by Chris Haynes on NBA TV.

Milwaukee is actively reshaping its roster around Giannis Antetokounmpo after waiving Damian Lillard and acquiring Myles Turner. The Bucks, who finished fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 48–34 record, need a reliable lead guard following Lillard’s departure.

Paul spent the 2024–25 season with the San Antonio Spurs, playing all 82 games while averaging 8.8 points and 7.4 assists. His consistency and veteran leadership remain valuable assets for teams seeking stability at the point guard position.

Despite the Bucks’ interest, Paul reportedly prefers a destination closer to his West Coast roots. The Los Angeles Clippers and Phoenix Suns remain in the running as he weighs his options.

Throughout his career, Paul has earned 12 All-Star selections and four assist titles. In 2024–25, he became the first player in NBA history to record 23,000 points and 12,000 assists. He also set the record for oldest player to start all 82 games in a season, surpassing John Stockton.
