Nick Richards has attracted trade interest from multiple NBA teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, and Indiana Pacers, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto, who reported the news for HoopsHype.

Richards, 27, was traded to the Phoenix Suns on January 15 along with a future second-round pick. The Suns sent Josh Okogie and three second-round picks to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange.

Since joining Phoenix, Richards has appeared in 36 games, starting 34, averaging 9.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, and nearly one block per game while shooting 60.5% from the field.

Before the trade, Richards spent four seasons with the Charlotte Hornets, where he showed steady improvement. In the 2023–24 season, he started 51 of 67 games, averaging 9.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per game with an impressive 69.1% field goal percentage.

Richards is currently entering the final year of a $15 million contract, with a salary of $5 million for the 2025–26 season.

The Lakers, who finished the 2024–25 regular season with a 50–32 record, tied for third in the Western Conference, are reportedly eyeing Richards to add depth and rim protection to their roster. Los Angeles has struggled with interior defense and rebounding this season, which makes Richards a potential fit.

The Knicks and Pacers also see value in Richards as they prepare for future roster adjustments.
