Appearing on ESPN’s First Take on Wednesday, NBA insider Brian Windhorst confirmed reporting from colleague Shams Charania that the Boston Celtics have been receiving trade inquiries involving two of their core players – Jaylen Brown and Derrick White.

According to Windhorst, multiple teams are actively engaging the Celtics in conversations, especially those holding high picks in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Windhorst suggested that the front office, led by the president of basketball operations Brad Stevens, may need to decide on these players sooner rather than later. There appears to be real interest from teams hoping to strike a deal before or during the draft.

“There are teams in the top 10 (of tonight’s draft) who are making offers,” Windhorst said during the segment.

“And you’d potentially be able to get replacement players and a draft pick. I don’t know if Brad Stevens and his staff is in love with one of these top guys. Maybe they are. But that’s what is on the table. … I say at midnight, Jaylen Brown is still a Celtic and Derrick White is still a Celtic, and they run it back, and they get ready to go in ’26/27.”

While no deal appears imminent, the Celtics are being presented with opportunities that could reshape their roster if they choose to act.

Windhorst’s comments highlight the delicate balance Boston faces: weighing the value of established star talent against the potential long-term upside of high draft picks and younger players.

For now, the expectation remains that both Brown and White will stay put, but the door is not shut on possible movement.
